BA.5 is more immune-evasive than prior iterations of the virus and how it could lead to more severe disease.

What is perhaps most clear about BA.5 (and its structurally similar sibling BA.4), is this subvariant has developed the ability to evade pre-existing immunity. One early study, published in Nature, demonstrated BA.5 can effectively escape antibodies generated by both vaccine-induced immunity and prior BA.1 infection. A new study found no significant difference in risk of early death between those who exercise regularly throughout the week, and those who cram it in on weekends

Microplastics found in the meat, milk and blood of farm animals

Scientists in the Netherlands studying the spread of plastic waste have turned their eye to meat and dairy products, and discovered high rates of contamination in farm animals.
The research was carried out by scientists at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam who in March made another important discovery in this space. By using a novel form of mass spectrometry, the scientists produced the first evidence of plastic particles beings absorbed into the human bloodstream.

Much more work is needed, but studies have demonstrated that plastic particles can have toxic effects on cells and alter their shape. Mouse studies have also suggested plastic particles can infiltrate the blood brain barrier and increase the risk of high cholesterol and blood disease.
