How the Israeli Ministry of Health Became an Agent for Pfizer

The Israeli Ministry of Health entered into a contract with Pfizer over COVID-19 vaccines that turned Israel into an agent of a commercial pharmaceutical company — and forced the state to give up its sovereign responsibility to protect the well-being of its citizens.

Netanyahu decided to bet on Pfizer's vaccine as the strategy that could potentially allow him to solve the COVID-19 problem, with the added benefit of substantial political gain.

In this way, in exchange for the privilege to be the first country in the world to roll out the vaccine among its population, Israel entered into two agreements with Pfizer: a production and supply agreement that was not made public at all; and "The Real World Epidemiological Evidence Collaboration Agreement," signed on Jan. 6, 2021.

Israel's Ministry of Health promised that the distribution, deployment and provision of the vaccine to the population would be carried out in a timely manner.

This was agreed upon without any condition regarding vaccine safety, with the exception of a "catastrophe" which would lead to the vaccine being taken off the shelves. It isn't clear from the agreement what constitutes a catastrophe, which of the parties gets to declare a catastrophe and what steps should be taken in order to identify a catastrophe before or at the beginning of its occurrence.

Israel's Ministry of Health gave up its scientific independence, not only in determining the research goals but also in performing the research.

The name and title of Pfizer's signatory to the agreement, as well as the name of their representative for dispute resolution, are also redacted. Why this is necessary is puzzling.

(1) the vaccine distributor and marketer for the population;
(2) a research and data collection contractor on outcomes aimed at evaluating the efficacy of vaccines alone, and not their safety;
(3) the "publisher" of scientific articles — effectively requiring Pfizer's approval — under the academic guise of its own health authorities (such as the major health funds or the Ministry of Health itself).

So what exactly do we have here? The research collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Health and Pfizer reflects a preconceived notion according to which the vaccine is safe to use and all that remains to be researched are various indicators that are supposed to demonstrate its efficacy.

This is despite the fact that at the time of entering into the agreement the safety assessment of the Pfizer vaccine was based on a randomized trial that was too small and short to allow sufficient characterization of key safety aspects, such as overall mortality from any cause.

Vaccine maker destroys 100 million doses of COVID shots due to low demand

The CEO of the world's largest vaccine producer said that the excess shots had to be destroyed amid low demand because 'people now seem fed up with Covid.'

On Thursday, SII CEO Adar Poonwalla told reporters his company had stopped making COVID-19 shots in December of last year due to a major shortfall in public interest.

Though India has administered two billion total doses of the shots, according to Poonwalla, there is no demand for the company's booster shots "as people now seem fed up with Covid."

"Honestly, I'm also fed up," he said. "We all are."

The CEO noted that although COVID-19 shots may be given along with flu shots in the future, "in India, there is no culture of taking a flu shot every year, like in the West."

In May, Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel told the World Economic Forum (WEF) that his company, a major producer of mRNA COVID-19 shots, would need to toss out 30 million doses of the jabs due to low demand.

"We have a big demand problem," Bancel said, explaining that though the massive pharmaceutical company has tried to urge jab uptake in other countries "through the embassies in Washington," Moderna has discovered that "nobody wants to take them."

"In the U.S. people don't want vaccines, around the world we have a lot of people who don't want the vaccine," he said.

The apparent lack of global interest in receiving continuous doses of mRNA COVID-19 injections comes despite heavy promotion of the jabs as being highly effective in preventing infection with and blocking transmission of the virus.

Following a rash of so-called "breakthrough" cases following mass vaccination in 2021, public health authorities in January 2022 rebranded the concept of "fully vaccinated" to the more tenuous categorization of "up-to-date" on one's vaccinations.
